Centre plans the merger of CyAT and TDSAT:
The Centre is looking to converge the Cyber Appellate Tribunal (CyAT) and Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). A Cabinet note to this effect would be moved shortly.
Cyber Appellate Tribunal has been established by the Central Government under Information Technology Act, 2000. CyAT adjudicates matters related to information technology and is seen carrying significance at a time when the government is pushing for digital payments.
The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), was established to adjudicate disputes and dispose of appeals with a view to protect the interests of service providers and consumers of the telecom sector and to promote and ensure orderly growth of the telecom sector.
