In a significant move, India and US have strengthened their defence ties by agreeing on logistics support agreement. Under the agreement, namely Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement ( LEMOA), the millitaries of India and US can share each other facilities. However, this agreement does not allow deployment of troops in the other country.

It was initiated in 2004 but resisted by earlier UPA govt. due to concerns of US interference and implications on ties with Russia and China.
