8 March is celebrated every day as International Women Day. This year there is a talk of reviving Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament and State Legislatures. Women Reservation bill seeks to provide 1/3 reservation to women in Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies.

Background:
Women reservation bill was introduced as 108th Constitutional amendment bill. It was passed in Rajya Sabha in year 2010 but was not undertaken in Lok Sabha due to opposition by some political parties.

All the best!
