Serology test- serology test is done on base of blood.If human body is espoused any pathogen then our immune system create antibody against the specific pathogen is called antigen.This antigen is targeted by immune system.The antibody which is found in serum.Blood consists of plasma,white blood cell,red blood cell.The plasma excluding the property of clotting is called serum.
PCR test- In this test nasal or throat swabs is taken from patient.RNA is extracted from the sample.it is converted to DNA.Thenafter it is amplified.At last stage it is checked for the confirmation of coronavirus.
1) PCR test takes around 8-9 hours to complete the test but serology test takes only 30 minutes to complete the test.
2) PCR test is expensive and complex but serology test is comparatively low cost and simple.
3) serology test is screening test it examine whether the person contacted in pathogen or not.But the identification of particular pathogen or antigen such as coronavirus PCR test must be done.
The population of India is very high but the medical infrastructure is not so advanced comparatively.It is almost impossible to test every person.so serology test which maybe beneficial for India.since it is a screening test so it is easy to identify the person who espoused to coronavirus.This test is done rapidly so maximum number of people can be isolated.This test may be helpful at the hotspot where the density of people is very high and there has the possibility of community transmission.In that place rapid test could be done so soon which led to isolate those person.so the community transmission can be curtailed.
Conclusion- many developed country such as Taiwan,south Korea,japan, Singapore have already used this serology test and there have positive result.so India should pursue this test to curb this pandemic coronavirus.
